Missions and Outreach CUMC is very active in mission and outreach projects. We encourage all in our congregation and community to be actively involved in some area. Please look at the list below, and find a mission area that best suits your interests. You are invited to contact the church office for more information about any of these projects. Local Projects Angel Tree- Participants purchase Christmas gifts for children of prison inmates. CROP Walk- (Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty) Fundraising walk held each year in October. Eastridge Food Pantry- Food and monetary donations are accepted to help support the Eastridge Food Pantry. Emergency Funds- A fund for emergency assistance supported by the congregation's recycling of aluminum cans. Lincoln Food Bank BackPack Program- Monetary contributions are collected to insure that children from low income families have food to eat over the weekend. Habitat for Humanity- Volunteers build houses for low income families or provide lunch for workers. Lancaster County Medical Society Medical Assistance- Monetary donations are accepted to help purchase medications for those who cannot afford it on their own. Malone Center- Furniture donations are given to help low income residents at their senior apartments. Matt Talbot Kitchen and Outreach- Groups from CUMC serve lunch 2 times a month. Meals on Wheels- Volunteer drivers deliver meals to shut-ins on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Community Orchard- We are currently in the planning stages of establishing an orchard on our church grounds. People's City Mission- Clothing, household, and monetary donations are collected for PCM. TeamMates Mentoring Program- We are a faith based partner, and have members who mentor through this program. National and International Projects Heifer International- Monetary donations are collected to help people in third world countries become self-sufficient in raising their own food. Midwest Mission Distribution Center- Church members sew hospital gowns and collect materials for other needed kits and visit the center in Springfield, Illinois. Willow, Alaska Outreach- Monetary donations support a mission church in Willow, Alaska. Youth Mission Trips- Our youth group takes annual winter and summer trips to work and learn about mission work. International Mission Trips- Pastor Jim coordinates international mission trips. |
