Music at CUMC

Our music ministry is very important to the members of CUMC. We have always had a very high standard of music for all of our groups. We have music groups for all ages. Our vocal groups include the Chancel Choir, Children's Choir, and Serenity Singers. Our instrumental groups are the Glory Ringers (bell choir) and CUMC Brass. The Youth Music Group is for both vocal and instrumental musicians.

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir sings at worship services each week, and for many of our special services. Open to any adults above high school, this choir sings a high level of music and helps to lead congregational hymn singing. The Chancel Choir also performs special pieces for the Christmas and Holy Week seasons. New members are welcome any time!

Children's Choir

The Children's Choir is open to any children in kindergarten through 5th grades. The children usually sing at worship services once per month. The goal of Children's Choir is to involve children in worship, and to begin to learn about our Methodist musical heritage. We also host a Fine Arts Camp in the summer, where children learn and prepare a dramatic musical performance. 2012 Fine Arts Camp will be held June 4-8. The June 8, 7:00 pm performance is free and open to the public.

Registration will begin soon and will be available both online and in the church office!

Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 5:30-6:00 pm for K-2 grades; 6:00-6:30 pm for 3-5 grades

Serenity Singers

This women's vocal music group has served as a consistent presence at CUMC for many years! The Serenity Singers usually sing at worship services the 3rd Sunday of each month.

Rehearsals: Mondays, 6:45-8:00 pm

Youth Music Group

Newly reformed, the youth music group is open to all musicians in 6-12 grades. Incorporating both vocal and instrumental music, middle and high school students have an opportunity to share their musical talents during worship.

Rehearsals: Sundays, 2:00-3:00 pm

Glory Ringers

The 5-octave Schulmerich hand-bell choir is open to all in high school or adults. In addition to playing music composed just for bells, the Glory Ringers will often accompany other groups as well. The Glory Ringers generally play during worship once per month.

CUMC Brass

The CUMC Brass group is a mixed ensemble composed of brass instruments (trumpet, French horn, trombone, and tuba). In addition to playing music just for brass, the CUMC Brass accompany hymns during worship, adding much depth to congregational singing.

Rehearsals: Sundays, 3:00-4:00 pm
