Virtual Midweek Retreat

Join us for a virtual Midweek Retreat this Wednesday, April 1st, from 5:15-6:30 pm. Fix your favorite Midweek Retreat meal and then gather around the computer screen to see and talk with friends from Christ United Methodist Church. Our virtual Midweek Retreat will be hosted by Pastor Richard, using “zoom” technology. Watch the announcements at the end of the daily devotions, which we post on the church’s Facebook Page and which we send out via mass email. The announcements will contain a link to click on, which will take you to our zoom meeting room. If you do not have a computer or smart phone, you can still participate in our virtual retreat by talking on your phone. Call the church office or Pastor Richard at 402-617-0355 to get the phone number to call and participate by phone only. We will use this virtual Midweek event to catch up with friends and socialize. Pastor Richard will also talk about Christ-ConnectioN Point and how we are continuing to be involved in ministry during this time of social distancing. The event will conclude promptly at 6:30, after a short prayer time led by Richard.

Distanced Socializing Devotionals

While we can't gather together in person, there are still ways to be connected! Each day, we'll be emailing and posting on Facebook a devotional written by one of our church members or staff. Click below to view them all in one place over on the ConnectioN Point blog, or find them on Christ UMC's Facebook page!

Covid-19 Response

Due to the threat of the Coronavirus, we have decided to cancel all worship services at Christ United and ConnectioN Point until further notice.  Instead of live worship services, we will stream the service via Facebook Live at 11 am. Click below to watch the service.

The worship service will include music, prayer, and a short homily.”  If you miss the service on Sunday morning, you can access it later on Facebook as well as here on our church website.

This decision was made with the unanimous consent of church committee chairpersons and other core leaders.

We have reluctantly taken this action for two reasons.  First, the health and well-being of our faith community is always important.  We do not want to risk exposing members of our congregation to this virus. Secondly, we believe that we have a social responsibility to help “flatten the curve” (see picture) for the advance of this virus.  We believe that we must do everything we can to slow down the timeline for the spread of coronavirus so that the medical community does not become overwhelmed. An abundance of caution is what is required of us at this time as disciples of Jesus Christ who are called to love our neighbors and work for the common good.

All in-person church activities  have been cancelled as well until further notice.

Food Security Resources

If the effects of Covid-19 have put you in a situation of food insecurity, there are resources to help. Our Open Shelf food pantry at our ConnectioN Point location remains open for regular hours, Monday-Friday from 2-5 pm. Click the picture below for a list of other distributions still being operated by the Food Bank of Lincoln. The button will take you to a list of sites offering free meals for kids while the schools are shut down.
