Sunday Services for Kids and Families

Join us Sundays at 9:00 a.m. in Room B for our Kids and Family Service. Church is not one-size-fits-all. That’s why at Christ United we offer a new Sunday morning experience geared toward families who want to grow in faith together in interactive ways. This gathering is about 30 minutes and provides a more relaxed, casual atmosphere where children and adults can learn, worship, and build relationships together. Each Sunday includes a story from scripture and a brief interactive reflection, and concludes with hands-on activities for kids led by our program director, Kim. Adults are invited to join their children in the week’s activity or to relax and enjoy conversation with the pastors and other parents over coffee. Families will also come away with resources for putting faith into action at home during the week.

This service, like other activities at Christ United, is an inclusive space that welcomes and affirms families of all kinds as we seek to help our community experience, celebrate, and cultivate diversity. We’re especially passionate about helping parents raise kids who are socially conscious and equipped to carry out our church’s mission to act inclusively, serve others, do justice, and seek God. We’re also mindful that parents are the primary influencers in the lives of their children, so equipping you to have conversations about faith, parenting, and spiritual practices with your family is important to us. We hope you’ll join us for this fun new service!

Youth Group (6–12 grades)

The youth group at Christ United is a safe and welcoming place for kids in grades 6–12. Together, the group does fun activities like bowling and laser tag, performs community service projects, and learns more about faith.

Young Adult Group (ages 18–35)

The young adult group at Christ United is a place for people ages 18–35 to join together for service, study, and fun! The group meets each Sunday after worship for brunch at a local restaurant and at least once per month performs a service activity such as making Valentine’s Day cards for local nursing homes or delivering Christmas Gifts as part of Prison Fellowship’s Angel Tree program. They gather together for fun activities such as bowling, bonfires, and football watch parties, too!

Adult Sunday School Classes

Advent Class

The Advent Adult Sunday School Class meets each Sunday at 11:00 a.m. in Room C. Many of our church’s 50-year members participate in this class, and all are welcome to join them to learn more about faith and theology through various DVD-based studies. In recent years, the group has done studies by nationally-recognized faith leaders such as Rev. Adam Hamilton and Rev. Dr. Walter Brueggemann.

United Women in Faith

Christ United has a vibrant women’s ministry which seeks to connect and nurture women through Christian spiritual formation, leadership development, creative fellowship, and education so that they can inspire, influence, and impact local and global communities. With a focus on women, children, and youth, members act for justice and transform communities for the better.

The United Women in Faith (formerly United Methodist Women or UMW)  meets monthly on the first Wednesday of the month for a lunch-and-learn in rooms A & B at Christ United. Throughout the month, women meet in smaller groups for Bible study, conversation, and service opportunities. Each fall, the group hosts a large rummage sale where they consistently raise thousands of dollars for service projects locally and globally. Many women also put their crafting and sewing skills to use throughout the year as part of the group’s “Made for Missions” project which supports mercy and justice initiatives through the sale of beautiful, hand-made items.
