Made for Missions

The Made for Missions group has turned their love of sewing and crafting into a major fundraiser for missions locally and around the world. The group collects donated materials and shares patterns for items such as scarves, hot pads, and bags. Their handmade items are sold year-round at Christ United and at local craft fairs.

Midwest Mission Distribution Center

Since opening for ministry in 2000, Midwest Mission in Pawnee, Illinois has been showing God’s Love in practical ways through the distribution of disaster relief supplies, education, health, and micro-business assistance meeting basic human needs around the world and around the corner. A “hands-on” mission experience is provided to those who serve at Midwest Mission which brings hope to those receiving supplies. Multiple times a year, Christ United sends a team of volunteers to serve at the Center.

Refugee Resettlement

Christ United has a long history of helping refugees from around the world get settled in Lincoln. Partnering with Lutheran Family Services, we have sponsored families since the 1970s, setting up entire apartments, practicing English language skills with them, and helping the children get enrolled in school and the adults find employment. This ministry is a powerful way to support people facing incredible challenges and to build friendships with families from around the world.

Open Shelf at ConnectioN Point

The Open Shelf Pantry at ConnectioN Point, Christ United’s sister site, is a welcoming place for anyone to receive food, clothing, or household items they need. Volunteer to greet clients, help them shop, stock shelves, and sort donations. Volunteers are needed Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. If just a portion of that time works for you, we're flexible with shifts. Sign up here.
